The Bangalorette's favourite spot of sunshine - the Good Earth complex on Walton road finally launched the much awaited - Nicobar studio. Opening on the eve of the auspicious supermoon was no coincidence, as the signature campaigns of Nicobar are often timed with phases of the moon and the tides. Minimalist and chic with a quirk factor, the collection reminiscence a sense of wanderlust inspired from African safaris, rich Chanderi textures and tropical themed homeware. Since its opening early this year, Nicobar started as an online presence, teasing us with a few pop-up shops around the country. Once the stores were launching, Bangalore was indeed a lucky gem to be picked although the Nicobar team felt strongly that it was the other way around.
The Nicobar store is a space for collectables
Looking at the aesthetics and design, it does not feel right to call the space a store, as the Nicobar studio feels like you have entered someone's conservatory, with a display of curios collected from their travel adventures. The clothes are subtle and comfortable styles, with rich textures - from ivory chanderi sarees to nautical inspired palazzos - each piece seems to hint a story and a destination.

Travel essentials -patterns with quirky accents
Talking about creativity, CEO Raul Rai gives full credit to his co-founder and wife - Simran Lal, who also heads Good Earth. At the same time, he makes it clear that Nicobar is not a brand meant to follow the shadows of Good Earth, and is a completely new element catering to a different niche. As Raul eloquently put it, at Good Earth Simran paints a picture of a Mughal princess, while at Nicobar she is a bohemian Bali gypsy who loves to travel. Not just a pretty store, Nicobar is all set to be a space for events and workshops, as well - which has us watching and waiting with glee.
