I ordered a 5-day salad combo pack from Yum Tum, to see if I could manage
a healthy lifestyle on the go, here are my thoughts.
If there was anyone who could be allowed to have unhealthy food choices it would be me. Working as a marketing consultant/lifestyle writer is one phrase for sporadic meetings, food tastings, Cinderella deadlines, spontaneous event invites and anything else that is the opposite of a routine. But yet, here we are - the truth is we all would love to eat healthy, the idea of #detox and #beachbodyready is glorious but alas, the excuses run plenty like the ones I just listed.
I understand, and I sympathise that its way easier to Swiggy a biryani that reaches you in less than an hour, but salads ? - too much effort and there's the question of freshness. There is a silver lining to every cloud, and I found mine in the form of Yum Tum. An online salad delivery service, that delivers fresh healthy salads to your doorstep , Yum Tum charges only Rs.150 per salad and less if you order through their monthly packages. A start-up founded by Girish Padmaraj, the tagline 'a healthy punch with every crunch' was his vision for a company that gave people access to fresh and healthy food in the comfort of their offices or homes. Keeping affordability in mind and picking fresh produce, there is no preset menu which I found was a surprise element. The company understands that the weekend is code word for anything but salad, so they deliver only on weekdays. If you are travelling or unable to eat your salad, just give the team a shout in advance, and they will postpone your order accordingly.
In Summary
Pictured below are the salads I got for the 5-day combo pack, with a few highlights.
Taste - Overall taste was impressive, the salads were fresh and the chicken was cooked to tender perfection.
Favourite salad - My favourite was the Quin Of Hearts, with chicken, quinoa and peppers. The balsamic dressing made this salad a treat.
Suggestions - The Moroccan Salad might be better suited with a hummus made dip to balance the dryness.
Value for money - Rs. 750 for 5 fresh salads, delivered to your doorstep - it is a steal.
Convenience - I opted for the 11am delivery slot, and sure enough the team was on time.
Final thoughts - Yum Tum is a perfect way to eat healthy, and I loved the experience overall - 5 stars from The Bangalorette!
