"Meraki - (v.) to do something with soul, creativity or love;
to put something of yourself into your work. "
Taking inspiration from the Greek word - the Meraki Spa, is best described as an oasis, tucked away admidst the traffic and chaos on St. Marks Road. The vertical garden and soft-shaded double door entrance is really just a teaser for what is to follow.

The doors beckon for the experience that awaits
When I walked in, it is not an exaggeration to say, I was speechless. The lush decor had hues of olive-green, gold, sea-blue, grey and white which was clearly following a Grecian colour palette. The ambiance mellowed my mind instantly. The reception had an antique-gold display of all the in-house products from scrubs to exotic oils, luring you to test them out while you wait. The architect behind the stylish space is Akshita Mehra, who runs her own firm Dialogue Through Design. Working together with the founder of Meraki Spa - Debanjan Kund, they wanted a space which reflected positivity and calm. Details like palm plants, the 'weaved-daris' and a hanging cane-chair set me in the holiday mood, ready for my session of pampering.

Truly a delight for the eyes, the Meraki Spa decor is a statement that evokes style and luxury
I walked into an olive green double door to find a spacious therapy room, with minaret shaped mirrors. Each room has an attached steam/sauna cubicle. After the customary questions, I asked for aromatherapy oils that had a bit of zing, so the team picked lemongrass. I got an aromatherapy massage, with an additional area-focused treatment for my back. My therapist, aptly named Shanthi worked her magic and within an hour I felt all my muscle knots loosen. The treatment ended with a facial massage and had me energised and awake. I liked the choice of treatments, with many options to customise, from the length of the time-slot to area-focused treatments and the use of the steam facility.

Printed baskets used for the suspended light fittings add a playful note
After my massage, I was softly ushered to my steam cubicle, which was set to a comfortable temperature. I was only too excited to use the lavender and vetiver body care range. I stepped out squeaky clean and all aglow, Shanthi guided me to the relaxation corner, that had comfortable lounge chairs, draped in silver-grey sheer curtains. I was happy to zone out as I ordered a green-tea and curled up, blissfully staring into my little tea-light candle.

My little corner of calm awaits post-therapy
Not just stopping at therapies, the boutique spa offers products that are organic and filled with goodies for your skin. I could not tear myself away from the delicious vanilla, milk and honey scrub,which had Argan oil and sweet almond oil. The current massages available at Meraki are only the beginning, as Debanjan plans to bring in more treatments that will pamper the senses. Centrally located, the Meraki spa is the perfect escape for the senses, from the scenic ambiance to the effective therapies that give you an experience to pamper yourself and restore your calm.
